Classic Remise 2023 - Hebmüller special II

On the last weekend in May 2023, the Käferfreunde Pendelachse from Düsseldorf, threw open the doors of the city´s Classic Remise exhibition centre to welcome visitors to the air-cooled Volkswagen meeting, held in the magnificent listed locomotive roundhouse, dating from 1930. The Pendelachse group was founded in 1992 by Jörg Röber, Dirk Klingenhäger and Claus Missing, and this year they attracted numerous VW enthusiasts from Germany and elsewhere to Düsseldorf, with the theme being Hebmüller coachbuilt Volkswagens. Those travelling the furthest included Roland Holm, driving around 800 km from southern Austria with his Type 14a convertible, while Steve Dressler flew in from Hong Kong. On Saturday, the organisers laid on an excursion for all Hebmüller owners, enjoying the most beautiful weather whilst motoring from Düsseldorf´s riverside Lörick district in the direction of Essen´s Villa Hügel, the former privat residence of steel pioneer Alfred Krupp. The cavalcade moved on to the old Hebmüller factory premises in Wülfrath where a modern logistics centre was build by Swiss Life in 2022. Hebmüller owners lined up their immaculate Type 14a convertibles, a Type 18a police convertible and various other Hebmüller conversions of the Ford, DKW, Opel and Tornax motorcycle marques were also on display. On Sunday morning within a short time, the Remise was heaving with the VW enthusiasts.
